Shakshuka is one of my favourite dishes. I’m totally addicted to this kind of tomato “pisto” with poached eggs. That’s why Israeli cafes and restaurants have become one of my soft spots. So as soon as I heard about it, I just had to pay a visit to this new Israeli place in Kreuzberg.
Shakshuka and hummus, winning combination
Cafe Mugrabi is one of those places where you feel at home. A surprisingly peaceful space next to the “busy” Görlitzer Park. Its interior is cosy, light and roomy. It’s the perfect spot to go with friends, order a lot of dishes to share and just talk and eat for hours. In fact, that’s what we did the last time we were there. All the dishes we’ve tried are utterly delicious, but if we had to choose we would recommend you my beloved Shakshuka and their special, the Mugrabi. Cubed fries with eggs and cheese, one of those comfort foods that it’s impossible to eat without smiling. And well, obviously you can leave this lovely Israely place without trying their hummus.
There’s a huge chance you’ll be quite full at the end of the meal, but if you are a bit like me and always have some room for dessert, you should really try their homemade carrot cake and banana bread. Delicious and not heavy at all, they are the perfect ending for this great brunch.
To sum up, if you are in the mood for a different and comforting brunch, this Israeli café in Kreuzberg is the perfect place.
